We did the full design and monitored the build for this nursery project, which started with a barren space that the children were rarely allowed to access as it was just a mud patch for most of the time. The nursery wanted different spaces to engage the senses including a quiet place for story time and exploratory areas for bug hunting and growing vegetables.
The design featured a willow tunnel and a sensory area with a bird bath and stepping stone path through the planting. The children loved discovering the bug hotel and learning how to plant and grow vegetables, with each age group having a dedicated growing box. We built a bark story area under the trees with fairy details to stimulate story telling and worked with a local artist to create an enchanting mural overlooking the garden space, which will serve as a legacy for many future generations.
