Pond and outdoor classroom - Jubilee Primary

We reclaimed a disused area at the front of the school to create a pond and build an outdoor classroom, providing opportunities for learning and experiments with water, as well as encouraging wildlife, enhancing biodiversity and helping to promote sustainable drainage systems. We were able to source a number of free plants from RHS garden shows and finally rehome a number of large boulders from Sprout Up’s 2019 show garden!

The outdoor classroom was built on the footprint of an existing shelter and now provides a perfect spot to run lessons outside but with shade or cover from rain as necessary, and its proximity to the pond means teachers can monitor groups safely whilst they are learning about water and the natural world.
